Transitioning COVID-19 Testing Coverage: What You Need to Know

EMI Health has been at the forefront of providing coverage for COVID-19 testing during the national emergency. However, as the pandemic situation improves, EMI Health has made the decision to transition to treating COVID-19 tests like any other benefit beginning May 11, 2023. Rather than EMI Health covering the cost 100%, tests will now be subject to deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums. It is important to remember that this change does not eliminate access to testing.

Individuals will still be able to receive COVID-19 testing, with the costs being applied towards their deductible and out-of-pocket maximums. This change allows EMI Health to continue providing comprehensive healthcare coverage to its members while maintaining affordability and sustainability.

It is important to note that there are still many resources available for individuals seeking COVID-19 testing, including state and local health departments, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers. Many of these options offer testing at little to no cost, ensuring that everyone can access testing when they need it.

By continuing to work together and utilizing available resources, we can all do our part in maintaining a healthy and safe community. It is crucial that we continue to prioritize access to COVID-19 testing, as it remains an important tool in controlling the spread of the virus.
